window shopping in NYC

I promise this is my last NY post for a while, but it is one of the best places to window shop in the whole world...would you agree?

I'm happy just walking the streets in New York...there's no city where I feel more at home.

  1. You have me so excited to get the girls back there. We just found out today that we won't have anyone here for Thanksgiving or Christmas, so with the kids off from school we will have plenty of time.

Again - you take absolutely beautiful photos!

  3. I came to visit you from the Hostess when I noticed that you were in Southern California. I live there too and like you wish there was a little down time in our seasons; here the garden is a year-round committment.

Your trip to New York must have been wonderful. Great photos!

  5. I always have bit of a breakdown in NYC, I just find the tall buildings make me feel dizzy and I feel so hemmed in there, I really need to see the horizon to feel calm.

  6. I know exactly what you mean about places where you just feel 'at home', but I have to agree with Tabitha, NYC gives me the shakes. It is beautiful, though, and unparalleled for shopping of all sorts.

  7. I love New York! There is just something magical about it. I have never been to abc carpet and home. I would love to see it though as I love home furnishing stores.

We are looking to get a new sofa for our den and I have yet to go to the design center in SF and look. I should be excited to do this, but it's a lot of work finding the right fabric and then the sofa style you like. I think it's going to be something I tackle in January.

It's funny that I have only been to New York City 4 times in my life and I grew up in upstate. Three of the times were after I had moved away. it just serves as a reminder for us to take advantage of the wonderful places in our own backyard.

  8. We were in NYC the same weekend, and I took a pic of the exact same window box! Surely, this means we have great minds, right?

  9. I have never been to NY but I do love to stroll the city streets and browse in the shops. The Anthropologie shop in Seattle was quite a feast for the eyes...they have a great way of displaying their wares.

  10. I love walking down the city streets of NYC and Chicago (my city... My Kind of Town) and going through the old neighborhoods with magnificent entrances: gates, gardens & doors. Yesterday I was in Chicago's Lincoln Park dropping off a Birthday cake for a cousin in just that kind of neighborhood. The break from my suburban life is exhilarating!

  11. I love every NYC post I can get! And yes, I wholeheartedly agree...best shopping city ever. Although, I haven't been to Chicago or Paris, so my frame of reference is somewhat limited. Either way, I feel at home there as well. We are still hoping to get to CT before my son enters high school.
